Healthcare systems all across Europe have had to reorganize services and reallocate resources to provide attention to COVID-19 patients. Because of the rampant increase of cases that required intensive attention or the inherent risk of COVID-19 nosocomial infection, all countries have been forced to cancel or postpone non-urgent care (e.g., elective surgery). The research question below aims to investigate potential delays in treatment for women diagnosed of breast cancer, as a consequence of the COVID-19 crisis.
- Title: Delayed care in cancer patients
- Author(s): Francisco Estupiñán-Romero; Javier González-Galindo; Natalia Martínez-Lizaga; Enrique Bernal-Delgado;
- Research question: Has there been any increase in surgical and/or co-adjuvant (i.e. radiotherapy, chemotherapy, inmunotherapy) treatments delay in elegible women diagnosed of breast cancer, as a consequence of the COVID-19 crisis?
- Cohort: Women, 18 years old or older, with a first diagnosis of breast cancer between 2017-01-01 until today.
- Countries involved: Belgium, Italy (Marche), Latvia, Spain (IACS), Wales (UK)
- Countries that will be involved: Romania, Croatia
