Information
Description
World Patient Safety Day 2023 is focused on "Engaging patients for patient safety," highlighting the critical involvement of patients, families, and caregivers in enhancing healthcare safety. When patients are actively involved in their care, it leads to better safety, satisfaction, and health outcomes. To commemorate the day, the World Health Organization (WHO) is hosting a Global Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, with the same theme. The conference aims to bring together diverse stakeholders to share experiences and discuss strategies for enhancing patient safety through greater patient engagement. It seeks to promote collaboration, identify best practices, and facilitate their widespread adoption in healthcare settings. The conference will include patient and health worker stories, panel discussions on patient engagement, discussions on patient safety's place in human rights, a review of a draft Patient Safety Rights Charter, and the launch of WHO technical resources.
