Description
The World Trade Organization (WTO), World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Secretariats will jointly host a webinar on technology transfer from the practitioner's perspective on June 27, 2023. This event aims to enhance the capabilities of policymakers and experts in achieving fair access to COVID-19 health technologies and preparing for future pandemics. It marks the fourth in a series of collaborative workshops between the Directors-General of these organizations. This practical capacity-building webinar will leverage the insights of technology transfer practitioners on the ground to achieve the following objectives:
- Enhance the understanding of policymakers and experts regarding technology transfer processes in the realm of health technologies, ensuring improved pandemic response and readiness;
- Foster a deeper comprehension of the roles of intellectual property and trade in technology transfer, exploring licensing and financing within the innovation ecosystem for local production and accessibility to health technologies;
- Facilitate an exchange of experiences and perspectives, aiding the WTO, WHO, and WIPO Secretariats in addressing the capacity-building needs of their members and WTO accession candidates.
