The conference aims to unpack the public health benefits and deficits of emerging technologies and provide an evidence base for their broad-scale adoption in combating noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). There will be inspiring examples from countries, institutions leading on the use of big data, the digital health industry and people living with NCDs. The meeting will be held in English and Russian.
The conference aims are threefold: to identify how the challenges to NCD response brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic can be addressed through digital solutions; to disseminate good practices and innovations in the use of digital health for surveillance, prevention and control of NCDs; and to determine how WHO can support countries in successfully implementing digital health solutions for NCDs and build back better in the face of the pandemic.
COVID-19 has created a need for telemedicine and digital health, and good results are seen in diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and other NCDs. The conference will serve as a launchpad for further research and commitment by countries to invest in these solutions at national level and as partners.
