    WHO, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health Care of Kazakhstan are hosting a global ministerial event to reaffirm the importance of primary health care (PHC) in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and other health emergencies.
    The event aims to: call on political leaders worldwide to reaffirm the importance of PHC in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and other health emergencies; share best practices and success stories of strengthening PHC to facilitate COVID-19 response (including COVID vaccine rollout), promote equitable recovery and boost health system resilience; discuss national health care systems’ prevention and preparedness for future health emergencies and the international community’s role; discuss the Primary Health Care Operational Framework’s role in strengthening health care systems and supporting countries to scale up national efforts to strengthen PHC; and improve communication to facilitate preparations for the inclusion of PHC in the agenda for the UN General Assembly in 2022.
