This webinar is part of a series of webinars launched by WHO which aims to explore the evidence base of the commercial determinants of health (private sector actions that directly or indirectly impact health, positively or negatively), how these manifest themselves in practice, and potential actions at different levels and by different actors.
This introductory webinar will cover the evolution of the commercial determinants of health since its origins in the non-communicable disease agenda and particularly tobacco control; address the breadth of business practices impacting health and explore opportunities for learning from other areas such as the environmental sector. In addition, it will present the challenges and opportunities of multistakeholder and whole-of-society approaches in addressing the commercial determinants of health and describe the link to the wider economic context and development agenda, particularly as we move towards recovery planning from COVID-19.
