This training is one of the building blocks of the preparedness courses. It is designed to inform those involved in coordinating the response to a public health emergency. 

At the end of the course, the participant will have sufficient knowledge and basic skills to be involved in a team producing rapid risk assessments for public health event caused by infectious diseases.

After this course, the participants will be able to understand the steps of epidemic intelligence, perform early threat detection and develop SOP on a national level.

The European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) was created in 1995. Its purpose was to create a network of highly trained field epidemiologists in the European Union, thereby strengthening the public health epidemiology workforce at EU Member States and EEA level.

All training content is practice-oriented and is aimed at identifying and implementing the appropriate measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases in the specific case.

The programme provides training and experience to develop the competencies agreed for field epidemiologists in the UK and across Europe.
