Description

Direct distribution is understood as the dispensing, through health facilities, of medicines to patients for administration at home. This distribution can also take place through specific agreements with local, public and private pharmacies (distribution on behalf).

Governance and legal framework

The Decree of the Ministry of Health of 31 July 2007 established the central database for the collection of pharmaceutical services carried out in direct distribution by the Regions and Autonomous Provinces and regulated the information supply flow. All medicinal products authorized for human use authorized for marketing in Italy, masterful formulations, medicinal formulas and foreign medicines used in accordance with the decree of the Minister of Health of 11 February 1997 are subject to the survey.
