Since 1 July 2018, in Austria, members of health care and nursing professions and higher medical-technical services are required to enlist in the register of healthcare professions. 


Specific data from this healthcare professional register are publicly accessible to provide an overview of the existing health professions and the respective professionals with their basic qualifications.

  • academic degrees
  • occupational and educational title
  • type of occupation (e.g. freelance, employment)
  • Registration number and date of registration
  • the validity date of registration
  • suspension of registration
  • In the case of freelancers, professional domiciles and contracts with statutory social insurance institutions and health care institutions can also be accessed.

In addition, members of the profession can voluntarily enter the following data in the health professional register or enter it themselves:

  • Foreign language skills
  • main areas of work and target groups
  • training, further training, advanced training, and special training or specialisations completed
  • professional telephone number, e-mail address, and web address
