While the initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic was focused on preventing and mitigating a public health crisis, the situation has, in many countries, rapidly spiralled into a full blown economic and public finance crisis. This has serious implications for health financing at a time when greater resources are needed for public health. Countries have some room to make extra financial allocations available to the health sector, but the potential impact on budgets through 2021 remain unclear. This webinar focuses on discussing what we can learn from previous financial crises about sustainable health financing and how governments can strengthen health financing during a pandemic.
